in the morning

she steals the change from my bedside table
becomes christmas bells as she pantomimes quiet
while i am geometrically shaped under sheet
future coffee and croissant find a pocket
maybe her side of the bed is cash strapped
besides, this is ritual, this is play
stealing the change is not stealing the change
it is word in action’s clothing saying
i will see you after work
