[De]composition

“Why should our bodies end at the skin, or include at best other beings encapsulated by skin?” - D. Haraway (quoted in Corinne Lee)

Desire distilled. Silenced.

Atrophous.

Desire hung upon anorexic

memories, once plump.

Now nervous and lonely.

This isn’t what we dreamed of.

Desire to touch – illicit.

Boundaries of pale

epidermis. Yours: here.

Mine: only a foot away.

Immiscible membranes.

How did we become mutually exclusive?

Idiosyncratic defensiveness.

Don’t move closer.

Psychosomatic response:

weathered Hope.

Thermodynamics:

Please just hold me, we’ll make it through…
