Niche

I wrote stories for my childhood hometown, characters hinged

across rivers, and moments between.  This is where life starts –

they whisper, and believe –

But I can see where the truth lies,

below, and between.

A town spilled across paper and page, and in words,

and experiences drafted across faces.

This is where life starts, but it’s not just a jump

off the fence, but a fall, and a hop; a leap.

In real life, one does not find a niche on the field and

on the stage.
