Love Song to Seal Beach

Glass-tunnel through rolling surf, white flecks

of sand and silver &

powder skin. South Bay

girl with chocolate eyes.

Rip through the marine

layer, as she whitens her wings

in bleach, lemon juice.

Homesickness

is like hunger.

The scent of straw-grass,

                                        persimmons.

She waits for you to come

home. She writes about you,

burns holes in her lungs.

this is where the city ticks ticks

J’ai hate de te revoir

The city exhales at dusk. How.

A heart pulsing your skin.

Hannah grows fins,

scaly, slick, glowing green in the dark, she

slips into the Pacific.

Water licking

her skin, to hear the fish sing, waves

rocking her to sleep.
