Night at the Opera

Kaleidoscope eyes throw

colour from a balcony

where peanuts are stuffed

into columns to shake

the foundations

Foundations concealing

lightning

wanting to be a drum

crystal

wanting to be a cymbal

the extinction of poppies

in cherry trees.

The sea will not wave;

flamingo snobbery prevents it.

But who cares.

Hair has been brushed off

a collective face

to watch a match stick and bowling ball

explode.
