When I tell my grandmother
I’m writing about her, she says

Will it be fiction? Will it have horses?
Who could possibly be interested?

We are eating boiled ham and cabbage.
She’s into the Bordeaux I uncorked.

Her hands can’t work the screw. I never know
what to say so I refill her glass and stab a potato.
